For over 20 years there was growing concern about the lollipop tree . We called it that because in its early growth competition between two pine trees it gave up on its lower branches pushed skyward to find enough light for its crown. However, it was a looming threat to our property. The tree was leaning towards the barn, was top heavy, grew mushrooms from its base, and just leaned in the wrong direction. But its grand stature and long sturdy trunk regularly challenged the critics.
On December 5, 2022 after over 5 years of contemplation and several expert eyes assessing the situation, we deemed it was time for the lollipop tree to go. We concluded one tree on the house during Hurricane Irene in 2011 was enough real-life evidence that trees do come down unexpectedly.
So we called “Tree Guy” who had been the strongest proponent on the removal and announced, “We’re on !”
